Tharuni Founder Dr. Mamatha-Resource Person at Khammam Meeting-28-01-2017

Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Founder, Tharuni, attended  a Meeting organised by ICDS Khammam on 28th January 2017, as a Resource Person, at TTDC Bhavan.She presented on the PCPNDT Act 1994 and Amendment of 2003 in detail.The Anganwadi workers should enlighten the pregnant women about the Act. The Scan Centers should not inform the gender of the child, in advance. The Doctors and the Scan Center Managers will be punished, with 3 year Jail ,and Rs. 10,000/- fine, if they reveal it. If they they are found guilty for the second time they will be punished with 5 years Jail and Rs. 50,000/- fine,Dr. Mamatha said.
Dr. Mamatha also presented on the Juvenile Justice Act, and Child Marriage Prohibition Act in detail.The Speakers reiterated about the importance of Girl child, as an asset to the Nation.
The Director of Medical and Health Kondal Rao, CPDO Varalakshmi,CWC Member Gandhi Babu, Child Welfare Officer Vishnu Vandana, J J B Member Narendra Singh, Doctors, Private Scanning Center Managers,Child Line Representatives, Anganwadi and Asha Workers from the district participated in the Meeting.  Adoption of the Child can be applied through  online now, Vishnu Vandana stated.

Induction Training Programme for the 'Girls Alliance Advocacy'(GAA)Project 0n 18th &19th January 2017

Tharuni as a Nodal Agency in the State of Telangana has organised 'Induction Training Programme' on 18th & 19th January 2017 at the Forest Academy, Hyderabad, for the Project 'Girls Alliance Advocacy', supported by Terre Des Hommes, & Defence for Children ECPAT Netherlands. The Three NGO participants are Sramika Vikasa Kendram,(SVK) from Wanaparthy of old Mahbubnagar District, SCOPE-RD from Kothagudem,and Tharuni from Warangal District.The Staff and Directors of the three NGOs,along with the State Project Staff have participated in the Programme.
Thang Perumal Ponpandi, Programme Manager,Child Trafficking and Migration, Asia,and Ezehkiel from India Programme Office were Guests of Honour.Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Founder Tharuni, organised the Training Programme.
The Trainers were were enlightened on Theory of Change,the present scenario,Situation Analysis of Child Rights, were explained in the introductory session.Dr. Mamatha presented the legal scenario of Child Rights and the different laws, enacted in India, in a detailed manner.
The Second day was filled with group activities, quiz on laws and action plays, to train the participants , to react against any injustice done to the children. They were also trained on the main components of the GAA Project . They also shared their success stories from their districts.Brochures in Telugu and law books ,were released by Sri Thangam, and distributed to the participants.The Programme made an enlightening kick start to the action plan of GAA.

Girls Alliance Advocacy Programme Launched by TDH, Plan India & NGOs on 10-12-2016

PLAN India, Mahitha, HELP, Tharuni and other NGOs launched Girls  Alliance Advocacy Programme on 10th December 2016 at CESS Auditorium, in collaboration with Terre des hommes, Netherlands, in the State of Telangana. Thanga Perumal Ponpandi, Programme Manager, Child Trafficking & Migration, Asia, Table Tennis Player Naina Jaiswal, Para Olympic Winner Padmasri Hari Bonafees. Plan India Senior Manager Amith Kumar, She Teams Asst, Commissioner of Police Kavitha, Cocacola India- Isthak Ahmed, Oracle Former CEO Ranjan chak, Andhra Jyothi Editor Srinivas, Tharuni Founder Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer Achanta and other NGO Representatives participated in the launching of the Girls Advocacy Programme. They released the Brochure in the Meeting.
Naina Jaiswal spoke of  importance of girls' education and empowerment. She is doing her Phd at the age of 15 years with the support of her family and is able to excel in all fields, including Table Tennis.
Girls are neglected lot from their birth in some families.They are equal to Men and can excel in every field if they are given opportunities.All the speakers reiterated the importance of Girl's empowerment.

Wockhardt Foundation- Shortlisted Dr. Mamatha Achanta for Child Activist Award-2016

Tharuni Founder Director Dr. Mamatha Achanta is serving Women and Children  for the last 16 years. She worked As Member A.P. Child Rights Commission, Chairperson Child Welfare Committee , Warangal District,which got as the best CWC in South India, She Fought against Child Marriages stopping thousands of them,  and against Child Labour,She formulated thousands of  Girls And Boys Groups in villages to work as a net work to achieve their demands.She got many hundreds of girls educated and empowered.She could even plead with the Law Makers to change the Child Laws. Tharuni's recommendations were accepted in changing the Laws for Child Rights.
