C.W.C and Tharuni --'Bala Rakshak Awards-2013' at Warangal on 23rd November.

Child Welfare Committee ,Warangal, in collaboration with Tharuni, presented Awards of Appreciation on the occasion of Child Rights week from 14th  to20th November, with salutations  to the"Bala Rakshaks" for rendering outstanding services in Child Protection during this Year.

1) Mr B. Venkateshwarlu, C.I., Parkal - For giving service to Juveniles under Special Juvenile Unit
2) Mr Mallesham, S.I., Chennaraopet - For stopping 3 child marriages in one month
3) Dr Balaram, Head, Pediatrics, Neonatal Ward, MGM Hospital - For caring abandoned babies admitted in MGM hospital
4) Mr Krishna Mohan, Reporter, CVR Channel - For reintegrating 36 missing children with parents through a special program on CVR
5) Smt Padmasree, Counselor, Children Home for Boys - For raising funds for Vocational training to boys in the home
6) Mr Jayadhar, Data Entry Operator, CWC, Wgl - For helping in preparation of 8.5 Lakhs worth NSC Bonds for 109 child labourers
7) Smt Srimanjani, CDPO, Wardhannapet - For taking up a case against a doctor for selling a baby in Waradhannapet
8) Smt Padmalatha, Social Worker, ICPS, Wgl - For rendering committed services in rescuing children
9) Mr Vijay, Volunteer, Child Help Line - For rendering committed services in rehabilitating rescued children
10) Mr Sudershan, Mobile Van Volunteer - Child Line - For rescuing and tracking maximum number of children
11) Mrs K. Sulochana, AWW, Mahabubabad, Wgl - For rescuing 6 abandoned babies
12) Mrs G. Upendra, Aya, Anganwadi center, Mahabubabad, Wgl - For identifying and rescuing 6 girl babies who were about to be killed by their parents
13) Ms Rama Devi, Police Constable, Govt Railway Police - For rescuing missing children from Railway platform

We have facilitated Dr Kantha Rao, DIG, Wgl & Mr Venkateshwarlu, SP, Wgl (Urban) - For the support they have given for child related issues in the district.

Child rights Week Celebrations at Pembarthi and Janagoan on 19-11-2013

Tharuni Celebrated Child Rights week  at Pembarthi and Janagoan in Warangal District.Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Executive Director Tharuni presided over the Meetings.Head Masters, hundreds of Teachers and students attended . She explained about the Child Rights enactments, while requesting the Teachers to avoid Corporal Punishments to the Students.She also enlightened the Teacher's responsibility to mould the student in a correct manner. Tharuni News letter of this Month which explained about the role of Teachers and Parents and child Rights was distributed along with Tharunopayam pamphlets to the participants.

Children's Day celebrations 2013, at Tharuni Gurukul, Hyderabad.

14th November Chacha Nehru's Birth Day--Chidren's Day Celebrated at Tharuni Gurukul, Hyderabad.
Coordinator of the Gurukul Dr. Hemalatha conducted competitions in different Sports for boys and girls aged from 5 years to 15 years Skipping, Ring Tennis, Musical chairs, Lemon and Spoon, in addition to Essay Writing , Drawing and Music competitions.Children enjoyed playing and participating in the events.Refreshments were distributed at the end of the Meet.
The whole Week being celebrated as 'Library Week, competitions in  Rangoli, Musical Chairs and lemon and spoon were conducted especially for women.
A Meeting was held on 17th, November, Sunday. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Secretary, City Central Library, presided over the Meeting.He advised the Children to improve Reading and Writing Skills which will help them in their future endeavors .Tharuni Director Mamatha Raghuveer,  Sadguru Prasad, Retd. District and Sessions Judge,Rami Reddy Retd. Senior Executive of Road Transport Corporation,Krishna Reddy, Librarian of the Branch Library, champapet, Nagamani Prasada Rao were the Guests of Honour. Children participated in cultural programs. Prizes were distributed to the winners, for both women and children.Dr. Hemalatha, thanked one and all for the cooperation extended to the Tharuni Gurukul for last ten years.

Youth Workshops at Mulugu and Warangal by Tharuni on 6th & 7th November 2013

Tharuni organized PNDT Workshops for the Young National Service Scheme Volunteers from different colleges to enlighten them on the issue of Female Infanticide, under the Scheme "To Save the Girl Child", on 6th at Mulugu and on 7th November  at Warangal..Dr.Mamatha  explained the importance to save the girl child ,as there will be' No Girl--No World" for the future citizens.The NSS Volunteers should propagate this idea among the youth, she suggested. She also enlightend on the PNDT Act.
Rallies by students were conducted in all the Five Divisions of Warangal District where Tharuni is propagating the issue, and pamphlets were distributed . NSS coordinators, Teaching Staff Principals and Hundreds of students participated in the Events and took pledge to save the 'Girl Child'.

P.N.D.T. Workshops by Tharuni in October 2013

Tharuni conducted P.N.D.T. four  more  Workshops  in different Mandal headquarters as part of  creating awareness on prenatal diagnostic tests, to save the girl child., to the ASHA workers, Anganwadi Workers, village Heads, Officials and Young women and men.The following are the Dates and places of the Workshops conducted.. Our Tharuni Director and Coordinators organised them and enlightened the participants on the issue.

On 25th October 2013 ACTION AID and Tharuni conducted 2 K Run on the Necklace Road, Tank Bund ,Hyderabad inaugurated by The Chair Person  of A.P.Womens'Commission, Smt  Tripurana Venkatratnam to create awareness on the issue of infanticide of girl children. Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer,different School Children and students and General public participated enthusiastically in the event.
