Dr Mamatha Director Tharuni, made her presentation on combating Child Marriages at the Integrated Child Protection Society Representatives' Meeting held at Hyderabad on7th April 2011.
She also addressed all the Police Officials of Warangal on Child Marriage Act and Domestic Violence Act and the role of the Police in helping the distressed women, in their District Crime Meeting conducted by the Superintendent of Police on 8th April 2011.
Dr. Mamatha attended on the evening of 8th April, District Legal services Authority Meeting and participated in the interactive session, where in Hon'ble JusticePrakasha Rao, Executive Director State Legal Services Authority was the Chief Guest.
Tharuni is a voluntary organisation working for the empowerment of adolescent girls, women and the aged.

Child Welfare Committee visits 5th April 2011
Child Welfare Committee Chair person Dr. Mamatha and her Team visited Sisu vihars and orphan children Homes to see the improved amenities for the inmates and distributed cup cakes for all the children, sponsored by one of the Bakers from Hyderabad.
Work shop at Devaruppula on 23rd March 2011
Tharuni conducted a Workshop for Purohits (priests), community leaders and youth on how to stop child marriages and disadvantages of early marriages at Devaruppula on 23rd March, 2011.
Again another workshop was conducted by Dr. Mamatha and her Team for the Self Help Group Women at the same place on how to combat child marriages on 28th March 2011.

US friends' visit to Warangal on 18th and 19th March2011
Ms. Mary Richie, Ms. Reagan, Ms. Marissa from Women Crisis Center, Kentucky, Of United States of America visited Warangal and Hyderabad on 18th, and 19th, March 2011, as guests of Tharuni to study and observe the status of Adolescent Girls and women in Andhra Pradesh.
They attended Kalajathas and other cultural programmes held by Kakathiya Cultural team of Tharuni at Gorrekunta village in Geesukonda Mandal. They also met Balika sangha girls at Pallagutta village in Station Ghanpur Mandal. They enjoyed the hospitality of Tharuni Team under the leadership of Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer. They also participated in the Holi celebrations in a Tribal village. The craft work of the village women were appreciated by them. The girls painted Mehendi to the guests. They also attended an Indian Marriage at Hyderabad. They met the Police officials working on human trafficking. They appreciated Tharuni for its dedicated work serving the girl children and women.

Dr. Mamatha,s opinion on Euthanasia in Andhra Bhoomi
The Andhra Bhoomi Telugu Daily News Paper focussed on the issue of Euthanasia (mercy killing) in page number 11 of 17th March 2011. Dr Mamatha, Tharuni Director gave her opinion to not to make it legal in our country, as it may lead to many complications." When a person is not allowed to commit suicide how any one can permit mercy killing?" she opined. It will lead to a type of murder she said.

Awareness Workshop at Deveruppula on 15th March2011
Tharuni conducted Awareness Workshop on child Marriages and UNICEF Child Protection Project to all the MPTCs, Sarpanches of eighteen villages of Deveruppula Mandal on 15th March 2011, to stop child marriages in their villages.
Khadi village Industrties exibitions Survey by Tharuni
Tharuni under the supervision of Dr. Mamatha, its Director successfully conducted the Data Mission Survey Project on Khadi Village Industries Exhibitions on various issues of their management and marketing their products etc. and submitted its report.
