Independence Day celebrations by Tharuni 15-08-2010

Tharuni hoisted the Tricolour Flag at the new Office Premises ( Neelam Enclave,Subedari, Hanamkonda, Warangal) and also at Hyderabad at the Tharuni Gurukul Premises as part of the 64th Independence Day celebrations on 15th August 2010. The office staff, coordinators of the Projects, and many number of Tharuni girls attended the functions and paid their respects to the National Flag and National Leaders. Local community leaders women and children participated in the event. Refreshments were distributed after speeches by our Director and elders.
Tharuni cultural Team played skits and dances at the official function held by the Collector, Warangal, at the parade Grounds. They were given certificates and mementos.

Interactive sessions at Three Mandals to SH Groups

Interactive sessions are being conducted at the three Mandals of Station Ghanpur, Geesukonda, and Dharmasagar from 5th August by Tharuni in which Self Help Groups women participating to discuss various issues of Personality Development, to bring up children, moral values to be adopted and the problems they face in their day to day life.Fifty percent of women participated at Geesukonda Meeting included widows, who lost their husbands due to alcohol, drug addiction and such other causes. Youth, particularly Young boys get addicted to these habits and ruin their life. Many die of cancer, HIV AIDS, liver disorders. Single parents really face many problems in upbringing their children with good life skills and moral values.Tharuni is creating a Forum to discuss on these issues in these sessions.

Breast Feeding Week celebrations at Stn. Ghanpur

In connection with Breast Feeding Celebrations Tharuni Coordinated a Rally by 100 Anganwadi workers, young mothers, officials and non officials to propagate breast feeding by mothers to their children until 2 years, at Station Ghanpur on 4th August. If the newly born kids are given breast feeding within one hour of their birth it will immunize them from all life long health problems. Placards were displayed in the rally about all information on the issue. According to staistics 24% women alone are giving breast feed to their children.A Meeting was held in which participants spoke on the issue.

Validictory Meeting of cultural Programs at Dharmasagar

Dharmasagar Mandal Praja Parishad President Rajugari Raghu presided over the Valedictory Meeting of the Cultural Programs and Kalajathas conducted by Tharuni Cultural Team of 13 Girl Members in 14 villages at nights and in 14 Schools in the day time successfully. The Meeting was attended by Sarpanches, Ward Members and parents and Students. The Girls were given Mementoes in appreciation of their services. MPP praised the services of Tharuni and spoke on the need of the Public to realise the need of Child Protection, from child marriages and child labour.

Meeting was held at Geesukonda High School to Counsel the Sarpanches, Ward Members and School Children, and their Parents about the achievement of goals, life skills and values of life for children.Smt. Swarnalatha Girl Child Development Officer, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan. presided the Meeting and addressed the gathering, along with Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Director , Tharuni. Young Girls from 8th class to 10th class took pledge to not to marry till they achieve their goals and till they attain 21 years of age.
