Tharuni Teams at Warangal and Hyderabad celebrated 65th Indian Independence Day at their Office premises in a befitting manner.All the Coordinators of Tharuni and Students, men and women attended the Flag hoisting ceremony. Dr. Mamatha paid tributes to the National leaders who contributed their might for the freedom struggle.
Tharuni Gurukul Children sang patriotic songs after the Flag hoisting by Karunakar Reddy, President, Nagarjuna Colony Welfare Association at Hyderabad premises.Dr. P. Hemalatha Devi, Coordinator of the Gurukul, spoke on the occasion.
Tharuni is a voluntary organisation working for the empowerment of adolescent girls, women and the aged.

Flag Hoisting at M.Manovikasa Kendra by Mamatha
Tharuni Director Mamatha Raghuveer was invited as Chief Guest to Mallikamba Manovikasa kendra to hoist the national Flag on the occasion of 65th Indian Independence Day Celebrations. There are eighty Differently able children in the centre, where they are trained with life skills along with education. Dr. Mamatha contributed five thousand rupees to feed them one day, appreciating the efforts of the organisers of the Kendra. She appealed to the public to come forward to contribute to their might for the welfare programmes of the inmate children.
Artisans' cooperatives formed in cheryala
Tharuni Executive Director Dr. Mamatha visited Cheryala on 11th August 2011, in order to formulate The Artisan cooperatives in their village to facilitate in a better way to produce and market their products of Nakhashi paintings at national and international levels.
Training of 200 Wardens of welfare hostels
The District Child Welfare Committee Members and Chair Person Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer conducted one day training programme in colloboration with UNICEF, to the two hundred Wardens of the Welfare Hostels of Scheduled castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward classes on how to protect the rights of children. Additional Joint Collector B. Sanjeevaiah attended the Programme as Chief Guest. There are 40,000 children in these hostels in the District.
Plan India visit to Tharuni- 29-07-11
From Plan India Hyderabad, Programme Manager Bhavani along with her Financial Analysts visited Tharuni Office at Warangal , in addition to Balika Sangha's Meetings in Geesukonda Mandal on 29th July.They were very much impressed with the empowered young women who were very active in conducting the Meetings and analysing the issues to be solved by them in their villages. The Team appreciated the changes brought by Tharuni in the lives of the girl children.

By the appeal made by The Child Welfare Committee of Warangal District S. Rajayya, Member of Parliament, and the District Collector Released Rupees Five Lakhs from M.P. Local Area Development Fund to renovate the Sisu Gruhas (Children Homes), which are in a dilapidated condition. The renovation work is already under progress.
