Legal Services Authority stopped Child Marriages

Tharuni reported about 18 child marriages to be held very soon, to the UNICEF, government and the Legal Services Authority, Warangal District. The L.S.A conducted enquiry and got 10 marriages stopped today by counseling and negotiation, done to the Parents of both marriage parties. The court got affidavits signed by the parents to that effect. All the parents belong to Geesukonda Mandal, Nandanaik Thanda, Viswanadhapuram, Manugonda and from Dharmasagar Mandal, Devanur, Krishnagudem and other villages. The court threatened them with dire consequences of arrests if they disobey its orders.
Tharuni Appreciates the great spade work done by its coordinators to report the matter to the court. They have faced abuses and filthy languages used by the parents against them. Tharuni Director congratulates the coordinators for their bold gesture to save the lives of the girl children.

Women's Day celebrations by Tharuni

Tharuni celebrated International Women's Day in warangal District. Competitions were held for the Mothers and their girl children in different activities and prizes were distributed. Awareness camps were conducted for the Mothers and and young women against child marriages . Exibitions were conducted in the Three Mandals of Station Ghanpur, Geesukonda and Dharmasagar.
Women's Day was celebrated in Hyderabad Administrative Office of Tharuni. Felicitations were held to the women who did service to the community, as "uttama Mahilalu".
Tharuni Gurukul did special felicitations to Smt Indira Devi, for she accomodated to conduct the Gurukul classes in the Branch Library from 2004, as she has retired from her service.
