Rural Tourism Website inaugurated on 28-01-2013

Director, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department, Sri Kantilal Donde, I.A.S., had launched two Websites on 28th January 2013 in his Office, -'www.cherialpaintings.com' & 'www.pembarthibrassware.com' -as part of Rural Tourism Projects, facilitated by Tharuni.The websites were developed by "Doer's Guild". Executive Director of Tharuni, Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Directors of 'Doer's Guild' Sathvik Ponangi, Ravi Verma, and officials of A.P.Tourism Dept. attended the inauguration function. Rural Tourism Brochures on Cheriyal and Pembarthi were also released by Sri. Kantilal, in this occasion. Tharuni also developed tour packages to help the Artisans in improving marketing , while attracting Tourists to visit the places and explore the Art.The Director appreciated the efforts of Tharuni , developing and motivating the Artisans to train the future generations to continue the great art.

64th Republic Day celebrations by Tharuni

64th Indian Republic Day was celebrated by Tharuni on 26th January 2013 at its Warangal Office premises. Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer hoisted the Indian National Flag. Tharuni Team Members, office bearers,neighbours,community people,men and women and children attended the Function.. National Anthem and patriotic songs were sung. Sweets were distributed.
Evening Tharuni Kakatiya Cultural Team enacted a Puppet Show "Gutkha tho Gutukku" under the supervision of Vallampatla Nageswara Rao, Teacher, famous Writer and Artist of Warangal, and Bhavani  Tharuni puppet trainer and teacher, in the Public Gardens. Thousands of people watched the show with pin drop silence, as it was a message oriented theme campaigned by Tharuni on the ban of Gutkha, a decade ago.The then District Collector ordered a ban on the sale of Gutkha near the schools in the District. Now the Andhra Pradesh Government  prohibited it all over the State as it is a health hazard.
Tharuni Gurukul and The Branch Library Authorities of Champapet, Hyderabad, along with local people, youth and  children  hoisted the National flag at their premises.Dr Hemalatha, Vithal Reddy , retired Professors,and the Youth spoke on the importance of education, health and  human values, role of Media in the present social scenario.They observed silence for two minutes for the sacrifices made by our Army Jawans, and the Freedom Fighters  in protecting our Country.Children sang patriotic songs.Fruits and biscuits were distributed.

National Girl Child Day celebrations by Tharuni

Tharuni celebrated 'National Girl Child Day" in the interior villages of Warangal District in Andhra Pradesh.on 24th January 2013.It was really a pleasant surprise to all of us that, the Balika Sanghas intiated by Tharuni long ago are being continued for years together. On this occasion the Balika Sanghas of Singarajupalli, and Nirmaala villages of Deveruppula Mandal , with the cooperation of their Zilla Parshad High school Head Masters, and Teachers,conducted  the National Girl Child Day Event  with lively speeches by them,on the role  and importance of girl child in human life. Cultural events were also held by them.
Everil Spencer, Project Manager, 'Voice 4 Girls' and Executive Director "Tharuni" Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, were  invited  as Guests of Honor for the occasion.Everil spoke on the unity among the girls will certainly boosts up their energies and empower them  Dr. Mamatha appreciated the girls for continuing the Balika Sanghas for their mutual support and progress among their communities and villages.
Everil and Dr. Mamatha also visited "Kasthuriba Gandhi Balika vidyalaya  at Bachannapet where the orphans, and school dropout girl children are being educated. Everil promised to conduct special classes in English and Life Skills to the girls on behalf of'' Voice 4 Girls'.
