65th Republic Day celebrations at Tharuni Gurukul on 26th January 2014

Tharuni Gurukul and Branch Library, Nagarjuna colony ,Champapet,Hyderabad, jointly celebrated the 65th Republic Day in the Library premises.The Indian National Flag was hoisted by the President of Nagarjuna Colony Welfare Association ,Karunakar Reddy. School Children from different schools, youth, Readers, People in the vicinity participated the ceremony.Children sang patriotic songs.Youth and Readers spoke about the historical importance of the  Republic Day and the change they want in the present political scenario.Refreshments were distributed at the end of the event.Dr. Hemalatha, Gurukul Coordinator stated about the Tharuni's campaign to save the Girl Child.and also thanked the participants in the event.

Tharuni 'No Girl-No World' Campaign-Bikethon by Bikernis and Wanderers at Hyderabad-on 26th January 2014

Tharuni on the occasion of National Girl Child Day on 24th ,organized a Bike Rally on 26th January 2014,to save the Girl child, in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The Bikernis of Hyderabad, an all women Bike Riding Club and 'Wanderers-Bulleteers'participated enthusiastically for the social cause. More than seventy five Bike Riders started the' Bikethon' from the James Street Railway Station, Secunderabad, carrying dark  pink Flags, and Scarfs around their  necks, were  led by Tharuni Director Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer and her Team , reached Tharuni Office, at Nagarjuna colony, Champapet, Sagar Road in three hours.They could sensitize the People and vibrate the areas with their Bikes and colourful attire and slogans and placards, to save the Girl child from womb to tomb.They raised the slogan 'No girl- No world'
Dr. Mamatha, Tharuni Director, while quoting the 2011 census, pointed out that there is 18 percent decline of girl child sex ratio in the State of Andhra Pradesh. She reiterated that there is every chance of sociological imbalances leading to more atrocities and abuse against women. She requested every person in the society to work for this noble cause of protecting the girl child .and say 'no' to sex determination tests. She expressed her gratitude to the Bikers both Men and Women having spared their valuable time and energy for participating in this memorable event.She also thanked the Media Channels, both Press and T.V., for the wide coverage they have given for the event.
