The InternationalWomen's Day was celebrated all over the world on 8th March 2011, with the Theme identified by United Nations Organisations as 'Equal access to Education,Training on Science and Technology, a path way to decent work for women''.We are also celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the event started by Clara Jetkin, Leader of women's Office for the Social Democratic party in Germanyon March 11. Tharuni congratulates all the women of the World. It is high time that women should prove that they are born perfect.
8th March is an eventful day for the Tharuni Organisation, as their dynamic Director Dr. Mamatha was felicitated by the Department of women Welfare and child Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh among the few women selected At Hariharakala Bhavan, Secunderabad.While participating in the panel discussion on the theme, Mamatha spoke on the problems of the girl child and to overcome them ,she gave examples of few success stories.She thanked the Authorities for recognising her services, and in a humble way she said it will add more responsibilities in the service of girl children.
Tharuni is a voluntary organisation working for the empowerment of adolescent girls, women and the aged.

Child Club formation in schools
Child clubs were formulated in all upper primary and high schools with one teacher and five leaders and members.Later they were trained on the responsibilities and role of child club and rights of children in the last week of February.
More than five hundred Balika Sanghas which include school dropouts also were trained on their role and responsibilities to protect a girl child against any type of atrocities held against them by net working and group activities in all the three mandals.

Training for Teachers against Corporal punishment
Training was conducted by Tharuni for one hundred seventy Teachers of three Mandals of Dharmasagar, Geesukonda, and Station Ghanpur Government Schools against Corporal Punishment and latest Education Enactment.
There were 48 children out of schools from 18 villages of Devaruppula Mandal and 27 children were admitted into Residential Bridge schools and Government schools immediately.
Village Commiittees were formed to work on welfare and protection of children.

Children Film Producers at Media Awards function
Tharuni Children Film Producers who bagged the Awards recently were asked to be present at the Media Awards Function held at C.E.S.S. Ameerpet Hyderabad on 5th February 2011 along with their Director. The children while thanking the UNICEF for giving an opportunity to produce films, requested . all Media Channels to broadcast their films.

Child Welfare Committee Members and Chair Person met the District Collector and Joint Collector to request them to improve the the basic amenities in the Orphan Homes of the children in the District on 2nd February.
