 A visionary for the youth both men and women which is being celebrated as National Youth Day is Swami Vivekananda's Birth day. He was born on 12th January 1863 in Bengal. 

He inspired with his oratory skills of addressing International Congress on religions in United States of America.

Let the young Men and Women of India must feel proud to follow his guidance  and advice to mould their future with strong base of humanitarian outlook strength and power.Let us learn what he said.

From the Director' desk. 90th birth day of sri Sadguru Prasad, Sewing Machines distribution 8-01-24

 Tharuni today distributed 35 sewing machines to the young women who are in need to sustain themselves.

In Warangal district on the occasion of 90th birthday of Late Sri Achanta   Sadguru Prasad, Retd. District and Sessions Judge and senior Advisory Board Member of Tharuni, the sewing machines were distributed.He is the father of Dr.  Mamatha Achanta, Founder Member of Tharuni and Rajendra Achanta ( U.S.). Sri Prasad was ardent advocate of women upliftment and progress, having worked as Secretary to Human Rights Commission in our State with 45 years of Judicial service in different capacities.

Tharuni team and staff could identify  needy women who are learning stitching in our centers and elsewhere, and who are unable to bear the two ends meet.  The machines would change their life situations with financial stability in their families.

Tharuni Founder Member Dr. Mamatha reiterated that it could reach total 35 machines in number with the liberal  contribution of 'Incredibles Group' of Hyderabad (A Group of Women created it to do service) and Tharuni fund. Swanthana Rehab was given 4 Machines in Hyderabad.

As Dr Mamatha was out of Station the Tharuni team successfully arranged Zoom Meeting online  in the centers in both Azim Premji Project and Hexagon Project who are our constant supporters.

 Tharuni congratulates all the Team Members and Volunteers and the stake holders on this occasion.I thank all the Participants in the meeting who made it a memorable event of my dear Husband who died on 29th November 23.

From the Director' Desk...Sewing Machines to Swanthana and women in Rural areas

 Tharuni is helping the girl children from the last 23 years at various rural areas in Telangana.There are more than 20,000 girls who  are in various fields, like sports, games, and education and work in many offices.Tharuni coordinators are eager to work with enthusiasm, promote their students at all levels. More than 700 cycles were distributed to the school students in different places by 2023.

Tharuni extends its helping hands to promote girls but also the young women who are in distress and need support. Tharuni is giving sewing machines to such women to make them stand on their own, with the help of Donors. Some women try to support themselves with any meager amounts they save.

Tharuni is a partner to 'Swanthana' which  help the young girls and women who are drug abused and alcoholic addicts under many family circumstances. The Organization supports them with medical aid and psychological counselling and promote them to live with good behaviour and healthy living.

Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer  our Founder Member of Tharuni distributed  4 sewing machines to the inmates of Swanthana on 3rd January 2024  and another 27 machines  to the rural women in Warangal district on 8th January.

 Dear Tharuni Team and children,

Wish you all happy, joyful,and cheerful New Year 2024.

I like to advise few things before we enter New year.Please trace out your achievements and failures , if any in the year 2023.

Now you try to decide what are your future plans and targets for the new year,then you  sit peacefully and plan your future  long term and short term plans. 

Be confident, have faith in your self and work out how to achieve your targets. Then discuss with your parents and teachers, request them to guide you , how you can reach them.Tell them any good achievements or good things you reached.

Tell your classmates  and friends the targets you reached last year, then you can become mentor for them too.Your self confidence reaches its heights. 

Self confidence reflects with your good food with nutrition and balanced cheerful behavior. Speak politely and friendly with every person you meet.

Lastly remember " Love All and serve All" Be kind, help the needy and distressed. Share your might to help your friends.

Wish you all  the best in your future endeavors in 2024 and good bye to 2023.

 

 

 

From The Director's Desk....Tharuni Gurukul Christmas Celebrations

 Dear Tharunis,

Merry Christmas. Today Tharuni Gurukul Children celebrated  Christmas along with their teachers and Director, in our Tharuni office. Our children are of the age group of 3 years to 12 years from different religions and strata of life. There are no boundaries for their free admission to this  concept school which is running from 2004 till today except during Covid 19 pandemic. 

 They will be taught life skills , good habits, learning alphabets to maths,with social and scientific outlook.  They learn drawing to develop concentration, discipline ,about life situations, day today festivals of all religions.They slowly become active participants forgetting their conservative attitudes of their religious and social inhibitions if any. They play indoor games. They sing and dance. They learn  good habits within no time , even though Gurukul is a concept school working on Sundays.Thousands of children became highly educated, working in different Organisations by now.  Let all our Tharuni children  from all our  villages blossom like beautiful flowers with self discipline, pleasant life skills to their personalities. Happy Christmas to you all.

Dear family of Tharunis, learning Karate from the age of Five years to  fifteen years is  compulsory for Girls which develops self confidence in addition to strength and health to build up their personality. It also develops discipline in their life to face any unforeseen circumstances.

It increases your study skills, remembrance power,taking correct decisions,help other friends and classmates in the school, teaching healthy life style to all .

Tharuni is conducting regular classes of Karate for the girls and boys also, for so many years. Tharuni empowered thousands of girls  in addition to other educational subjects.

As Director of Tharuni I suggest all girls and young boys to learn self confidence techniques from their child hood.

Combating Human Trafficking in the towns of Bhuvanagiri and Yadadri

These days, young women and children  are being trafficked and used for different types of prostitution. Once involved they cannot come out of the clutches of Traffickers.They are transported to different places for making money.The news of trafficking continued from many years, though Police are trying their best to combat it, leaked in the Social Media recently.The religious places are the targets for the Traffickers , as there will be floating population from different regions coming to those areas. In the situation,   Tharuni along with the British Deputy High Commission and the Rachakonda Police coordinated a Project to help people in Yadadri and Bhuvanagiri towns to fight against human trafficking.

In Bhongir, on 18th September 2018, there was a workshop conducted  for the She Teams. Tharuni along with the British Deputy High Commission and the Rachakonda Police organized this event to take place, to enlighten  the She Teams to learn and then teach other communities including colleges and schools, on how to deal with Human Trafficking. The She Teams have been sensitized themselves through this workshop. After this She Teams sensitised more than 20,000 students in colleges and schools in the Yadadri district.

Tharuni also organized another Meeting on 1st October 2018 in Bhongir itself. This  was to train the Police cultural teams members, about Human Trafficking. After training, the police cultural troupe could Sensitise 5000 people on combating  Human Trafficking.

Also on 1st October 2018, Tharuni along with the British Deputy High Commission and the Rachakonda Police organized another Workshop where Traffic Police, 300 Auto and lorry Drivers were sensitized. They were taught about Human Trafficking menace and also trained in how to notice when Human Trafficking takes place. These people were given the responsibility in helping police in stopping human trafficking and if they are able to do so then an award will be  given to them by Rachokonda police.

In such a short time, Tharuni was able to organise Workshops to train and enlighten multi stakeholders and other organizations in Yadadri and Bhuvanagiri district.

About 100 Officials from Departments of Women & Child Development, District Legal Services Authority, Police, Revenue, Transport, Child line and Welfare Departments were sensitized on this topic in an interface meeting held on 16th October 2018.

Tharuni made a huge impact not only on the She Teams, but also People working in different Departments and the Public at large. The She Teams have already started to conduct classes on Human Trafficking as well as other issues in the areas. Tharuni distributed Small Booklets, and Posters on the issue during this project.

Tharuni Team Members, including its Founder Member Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, British Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Andrew Fleming, Hyderabad, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sri Mahesh Bhagavath had taken all the efforts to curb the menace of Human Trafficking in Yadadri - Bhuvanagiri district. The Police Department Officials and other officers from different Departments are trying their best to combat human trafficking.

State Level Consultation on 'How to prevent Child Marriages' by Tharuni & TSWC on 16-12-2017

Tharuni , Under  Girls Advocacy Alliance Project of Netherlands, organised a State Level Consultation ,in collaboration with State Women Commission on 'How to prevent Child Marriages', at Hyderabad. on 16-12-2017.
Acting Chief Justice Honble. Sri Justice Ramesh Ranganathan, District Legal Services Authority Chairman,Hon'ble Sri  Justice Rama Subramanian stated that every marriage must be compulsorily registered.It deters Child marriages in the State.They said that child marriages can be stopped if there is awareness among the Public about its disadvantages.
Dr. Thripurana Venkata Venkata Rathnam , Chair Person of Telangana State Women Commission , asserted that the combating Child Marriages is a social responsibility.
Department of Women &  Child Welfare, Director  will be given powers to register marriages, said Sri Jagadeeswar, Secretary of the Department..An online web portal will be started very soon, he further stated.
Smt. Sikha Goel, I.P. S. said that Police Department is very alert against the child marriages . Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Founder, Tharuni said that Tharuni is fighting against this evil from its inception in the year 2000 and still this problem persists in some districts of Telangana.The loopholes in the 2006 enactment have to be corrected to stop Child marriages totally, she stated..

Human Rights Day celebrated on 10-12-2017 by Tharuni

Tharuni in collaboration with Telangana State Women Commission  organised State level Consultation on Human Rights of Women at Hyderabad on 10-12-2017.Child Marriages and Child labour could not be eradicated, though legal enactments were made. So we have been campaigning for the social empowerment of women from their childhood.the Organisers announced.
 Nearly 40  adolescent girls from Warangal Rural from Bodduchintalapalli and Gorrekunta Villages came to participate in the Meeting and they reiterated that no child marriages are being held in their villages,as Tharuni is trying its best to empower them.
Active involvement and quick action by Officials ,can prevent such social evils Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Founder  Tharuni stated.
Women should not be deprived of their Rights and the Women Commission is actively propagating for them, said Dr. Thripurana Venkata Rathnam, Chair Person TSWC

Two Wheeler Training Sessions for young women by Bikernis of Hyderabad and Tharuni launched on 03-011-2017

Tharuni and Bikernis of  Hyderabadand Orange Honda have come together to launch two wheeler Training programme for Women , under 'Tharun Swecha'.
Their aim is to empower the women with bike riding which makes life better with confidence and self reliance.
The program was launched by the Joint Commissioner RTA, Sri Pandu Ranga Naik.at Wesley Degree College Campus on 03-10-2017. Orange Honda provided the vehicles along with  Lady Trainers , and other safety equipment .Apollo Hospitals have come forward to provide safety manuals to give information on safety rules, self defense techniques and basic first aid kits. Traffic Police Officials addressed the gathering on road safety and traffic rules. The Transport Department  has  also assured to support the riders with required driving licenses.The Management of Wesley Degree college had given consent to hold the training sessions on every saturday from 7 A.M to 9 A. M.
Master Athelette of physical fitness Laxman Reddy, Srinivas from RTA Office,  Rajitha , Lady trainer, Naresh Bahdur Veteran Rider,Shipa Bala Krishnan, Mumbai bikerni,Chauhan from Traffic Police spoke on the occasion. Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, founder, Tharuni, and Jai Bharathi Bikerni of Hyderabad  organised the launching program in a befitting manner.

Universal Child Rights Day celebrations-Walkathon & Mela 20-11-2017 by Tharuni & BDHC

Tharuni in collaboration with  British Deputy High Commission Hyderabad celebrated Universal Child Rights Day. The students of 10 Schools of the city of Hyderabad participated in the 'Walkathon' with the concept against child sexual abuse & online safety.
Flagging of the Walkathon was graced  by Sri Mahender Reddy IPS; DGP, Telangana and Sri Andrew Fleming , Dy. High Commissioner , BDHC, Hyderabad.More than 1200 students, Teachers, walked from Jalavihar to Sanjeevaiah Park via Necklace Road at 9 A.M.
A Student  Cultural Extravaganza MELA   took place at the green and serene premises of Sanjeevaiah Park, from 10 A.M to 2 P.M.

More than 1200 Students from the City Schools presented different cultural programs, enthusiastically, on child related problems on safety, education, trafficking, Gender and so on. The best performers were awarded. Principals of the Schools were given certificates for their support to the Safe child hood Project.

International Girl Child Day Celebrations by Tharuni under GAA Project & Bharosa 11-10-2017

Tharuni under the Girls Advocacy Alliance Project of Terres Des Hommes of Netherlands, in collaboration with Bharosa Support Center of Hyderabad City Police, celebrated the International Girl Child Day at Ravindra Bharathi Auditorium on 11th October 2017
More than one thousand young girls participated in the event , coming from different schools of Hyderabad.They performed skits on how to protect themselves from  child abuse. and the role of She Teams and Bharosa support center taking care of them.
A Website was opened by the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad Mr. Mahender Reddy. He advised the Girls to approach the Police in times of need to protect themselves.
Smt Swati Lakra I.P.S. Addl. Commissioner of police , in charge of She Teams &Bharosa presided over the function.
Sri P. Raghuveer I.FS Prl.Chief Conservator of Forests, advised the Girls to  participate in the activities to bring a change in the society.
Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Founder Tharuni sensitised the young women on their legal Rights and
also their responsibilities to act as change Makers, while empowering themselves.
Tharuni identified and felicitated 15 Non Govtl. Organisations and 10 Media Peronnel, both T.V and Print Media, who have been working passionately for the Rights of the Girl Children. 'Balika Bandhu' Awards with citation, Memento and Turbans were given to all of them, enlightening the audience about their work .
Dr. Hima Bindu from Niloupher Hospital sensitised the Girls on nutrition, reproductive health and personal hygiene.
Smt. Laxmi ,of  Rani Rudrama Devi Karate Center demonstrated to the girls  how to protect themselves .Dr. Hemalatha Devi, Director ,Tharuni gave Mementoes to the Guests of honour.

Police officers, She Teams, Bharosa Teams, School Teachers and Tharuni Team Members,Anuradha, Neeraja, Sameer, Javeed, Ailesh participated in the event. A pamphlet against child marriages was released and booklets were distributed to sensitize on child sexual abuse.

Media Workshop at Warangal (17th September 2017)

Tharuni in collaboration with Telangana Press Academy conducted a District level Training Workshop for Media Personnel (of United Warangal) on the DOs and DON'Ts of reporting on/for children. The session was taken by Dr. Mamatha Achanta where she addressed an audience of 1500 print and electronic media journalists.

Launching of Bandhavya Academy -A Premier Academy for Relationship Management-15-09-2017

Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer- Founder 'Tharuni' & ''NILA' has initiated 'Bandhavya Academy' for human relationship management from 15th September 2017.The Launching Program was inaugurated  with 'Sanskara' for grooming youngsters on Internet Safety & Cyber Laws' at Wesley Degree College, Secunderabad.
Hon'ble Minister of Home affairs of Telangana State Sri Nayani Narasimha Reddy Garu inaugurated the Academy, as  it aims to  transform the youth, School Children, Teachers , Parents and the Public at large to have successful and peaceful human relationships. The Minister reiterated the importance of  such organisation  for the latest changing  trends of   Technology and cyber crimes and violence.
Dr. Smt. Thripurana Venkata Rathnam, Chair Person of Telangana State  Women's Commission, also advised the Youth to be watchful and take care  of their important goals in life, than led away by unforeseen  circumstances, ruining their lives. British Deputy High Commissioner, Sri Andrew Flemming, Political Analyst Nalini Raghuram, Smt. Sudha Murali, UNICEF Former Child Protection Officer, and Sri P. Raghuveer IFS Addl. Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests have given their valuable guidance to the more than 300 students and the public , about using the internet  in the day today life.
Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer explained the importance of 'Bandhavya' a human bondage with finer sentiments and human touch. A logo of 'Bandhavya Academy' was released along with the Website.
