Tharuni GAA Project, Warangal Team -Interface Meeting with Line Departments-28-02-2017

Tharuni under Girls Alliance Advocacy Programme conducted Interface Meeting with Line Departments of Warangal District on 28-02-2017.District Collector ,Warangal Smt. Amrapali I.A. S;  was the Chief Guest, who told the Line Department Officials to take action immediately as soon as they come to know that Child Marriage or Child Abuse cases are reported to them.No such cases against the Children should take place in the district, she stated.Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Founder Tharuni and the Local Advocate explained the Legal enactments against Child Marriage, child Labour and POCSO .Women Welfare and Child Development Department Officials,and District Officials of all Departments participated in the Workshop.

World CSR Congress Award to Tharuni founder Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer

Tharuni Founder Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer Achanta received World CSR Congress Women Leadership Award on 17-02-2017 at Mumbai. The World Congress for corporate responsibility was held in Taj Lands End Hotel, where in,  hundred companies Representatives ,NGOs Foreign Company representatives attended, to discuss on global issues of economy.There were Stalls by different Companies   to exhibit their products.
Tharuni was chosen as NGO working for the progress of Girl children and women, for nearly two decades. Tharuni Founder Dr. Mamatha received the Merit Certificate under  Women Leadership Award.

Tharuni-TDH- Girls Advocacy Alliance Project-Inter Action Program at Warangal -08-02-2017

Tharuni organised an Interaction Programme with identified existing NGOs& CSOs in Warangal Rural & Urban Districts of Telangana for formation of Girls Advocacy Alliance Net work, to promote equal rights and opportunities for girls and women,supported by Terres des hommes Netherlands, on 8th February 2017 at Waddepalli Community Hall, Hanamkonda.
The main objectives of this interface meeting is to bring all NGOs to one platform ,in order to empower the Girl Children and young women.
It also enables to raise the voice collectively on violation of rights and opportunities against them.
Further  it leads to exchange field experiences, ideas and knowledge, information and find solutions by giving suggestions.
Different NGOs like MARI, Pragathi, Dharani,Sarvodaya, Spandana, Mallikamba Manovikaskendra,Jana Sikshana Sanstha, Child Line, Priyadarsini Mahila Mandali and others,participated.
Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Director of GAA Project, explained the role of networking of all NGOs in the District to serve the Young women.She also said that Status Cards will be issued to track the status of Girl Children.The champions who served the Girl child in distress from NGO &;CSOs will be felicitated during this year.All the NGOs expressed their interest and solidarity to unite and work for the welfare of girl child.

There is going to be another Meeting in the last week of February with a plan of action.

Tharuni Founder Dr. Mamatha-Resource Person at Khammam Meeting-28-01-2017

Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Founder, Tharuni, attended  a Meeting organised by ICDS Khammam on 28th January 2017, as a Resource Person, at TTDC Bhavan.She presented on the PCPNDT Act 1994 and Amendment of 2003 in detail.The Anganwadi workers should enlighten the pregnant women about the Act. The Scan Centers should not inform the gender of the child, in advance. The Doctors and the Scan Center Managers will be punished, with 3 year Jail ,and Rs. 10,000/- fine, if they reveal it. If they they are found guilty for the second time they will be punished with 5 years Jail and Rs. 50,000/- fine,Dr. Mamatha said.
Dr. Mamatha also presented on the Juvenile Justice Act, and Child Marriage Prohibition Act in detail.The Speakers reiterated about the importance of Girl child, as an asset to the Nation.
The Director of Medical and Health Kondal Rao, CPDO Varalakshmi,CWC Member Gandhi Babu, Child Welfare Officer Vishnu Vandana, J J B Member Narendra Singh, Doctors, Private Scanning Center Managers,Child Line Representatives, Anganwadi and Asha Workers from the district participated in the Meeting.  Adoption of the Child can be applied through  online now, Vishnu Vandana stated.

Tharuni released girls alliance advocacy brochure, along with vanitha t.v,celebrating national girl child day.
