Aata Vidupu, An award-winning film by Tharuni Children


Aata Vidupu a short film on the forgotten games of children has won the Media Awards  2010 by UNICEF. The film was videographed by the girl children of Tharuni Balika Sanghas. It is relevant in the present circumstances, where the children are playing computer games, ignoring the importance of outdoor games.

Mulla Bandham, A film on child Marriages by Tharuni Children



Tharuni, a Voluntary Organisation working for abolition of child marriages,trained young women on Videography, who have contested for the Award winning films conducted by UNICEF, in 2010. They could make six films on different social issues out of which they got award for two films. This film "Mulla Bandham" highlights on the demerits of child marriages.The viewers are requested to campaign against child marriages and educate and empower the girl child.

Tharuni Ooyala film


Tharuni Ooyala is a 3 minute film about motherhood & infanticide which is heart wrenching and sensitizes you about your responsibility to protect girl children. Well Conceptualized with engrossing voice, the film is the best from Tharuni Media Creations. The Cradle program started by Tharuni, an NGO which works with girl children in the District of Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, India & helps to save them. 584 Leaders of Girls' Groups & 90 Boys Groups' Exposure visits

There are five hundred and eighty four Balika Sanghas and 90 Balura sanghas, in the four Mandals of Ghanpur, Dharma Sagar, Geesukonda and Deveruppula in Warangal  District, working under Tharuni. The leaders of both the groups are being taken on an exposure Visit to the Police Station, Post Office, Mandal Revenue Office, M.P.D.O's office, and primary Health Center to enlighten the Boys and Girls about the functioning of these offices.The leaders in turn explain to their groups about the importance of these offices in day today life.

U.N.I.C.E.F Girl Child Media Awards, Jury Meeting on 30/09/11 at Hyderabad

U.N.C.E.F.  conducted the Jury Meeting at Hyderabad on 30th August 2011, for the Girl Child  Media Awards 2012. Tharuni Director, Dr. Mamatha was selected as one of the Jury Members.
