The Child Welfare Committee, Warangal District conducted a Workshop with Media, collaborating with NGOs, A.P. Alliance for Child Rights, Mahitha and Tharuni on 3rd December 2011 at Suprabhat Hotel. Registrar NALSAR Dr.Madabhushi Sridhar Acharya, Vallishwar, Editor, Andhra Pradesh journal, a senior Journalist, Dr.Sunil Professor, NALSAR and Rajasekhar, Project Manager UNICEF were the guests of honour who spoke on role of Media in presenting about child rights.Dr. Mamatha Chair Person CWC presided over the Meeting.Dr Mamatha explained the importance of Media to protect the children of their survival rights,protection rights, development rights and participation rights, and the hardships they face when an information is given against children.The children are voiceless, So the Media is expected to give a proactive report about them she said. Dr. Sridhar a Professor in Law and also a Columnist in Media channels,gave an impressive presentation on Juvenile Justice Act 2006,stressing the importance of humanitarian touch for the Media professionals. Rajasekhar, UNICEF Child Protection Project Manager explained the need of bringing out the needs of children and solving their problems through publicity by the Media.Vallishwar highlighted the role of rural journalists and their social responsibility, and the need of collective responsibility, and effort to solve the problems of people.He also said that they need interaction with people from different perspectives, with a bit of tactfulness and bravery to reach their goals.The Work shop was very successful in bringing all the Media Channels of communication on a single platform to discuss their common problems, Vedio presentation by Dr Mamatha and Dr. Sridhar was very impressive.CWC Member and Advocate Revathi,ICPS,ICDS and women welfare Dept. Officials and people from different walks of life were present.
