Station Ghanpur Sub Inspector of Police Mr. David Raju came forward to distribute steel dinner plates to 200 school children to eat their Mid Day meal in the Govt. School Pamunuru village to day. Tharuni Director Dr. Mamatha and the Head Master and teachers appreciated the kind gesture of the Cop who has spent his personal amount to help the children.
The police could stop child marriages of two 6th class girl students in the school during this season.
The girl is 12 years and the Bride Groom is of 27 years of age. The Sarpanch of the village Mahender assured The Police and Tharuni that in future no child Marriages will be held in the village.The Parents of the children were counselled about the ill effects of child marriages.
A girl of 16 years Sarada was married and her husband met with an accident and died within one year. .Tharuni brought her to its fold and persuaded the Police and the Court to give her compensation. The girl learnt Tailoring at Tharuni center and will be able to make two ends meet with great difficulty if any Philanthropist comes forward to donate her a Sewing Machine.
Tharuni is a voluntary organisation working for the empowerment of adolescent girls, women and the aged.

legal awareness camp
Tharuni conducted Legal Awareness camp on compulsory Registration of Marriages, in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority for the Village Revenue Officers and Sarpanches at Geesukonda on 17th April 2010. Secretary SLSA Judge Smt. Prema Rajeswari, Lawyer smt. Ratna Manjula enlightened the participants on the advantages of compulsory Registration of Marriages. Mamatha Raghuveer , our Director presided over the camp.

Legal Awareness camp at Stn. Ghanpur 7th March
Tharuni in collaboration with State Legal Services Authority, Warangal conducted a Legal Awareness camp for the Village Revenue Officers,Panchayat Secretaries,Sarpanches, C.D. P.Os of Women welfare and child Devt. Department, Purohits and Pastors, to enlighten them on compulsory Registration of Marriages and Child Marriages Restraint Act at Station Ghanpur on 7th March. Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer presided over the camp and Judge and Secretary State Legal Services Authority Smt. Prema Rajeswari and Smt. Rathna Manjula have spoken on the Acts.
samarth Projects reports
Tharuni made surprise visits to Samarth Projects run for rehabilitation of mentally retarded persons by different N.G.O.s, supported by National Trust of Govt. of India at six centers ie: Hyderabad, Kakinada, Tirupathi, Kurnool, Godavari Khani of Karimnagar District, and Manuguru of Khammam District, and sent reports about their functioning during this Month.
